店舗を持たない骨董商（「旗師」と呼ばれるらしい）の女性が主人公の、「古美術」ミステリー。

題材にされている古美術・骨董の世界がこれほど恐ろしいものだとは思わなかった。
小説にするにあたってその恐ろしさはある程度誇張されているにしても、本書を読んだ後にはこの世界の恐ろしさが十分にわかるようになっている。
しかも内容は文句のつけようが無い。

久しぶりに、本当に面白いと思える小説を読めて嬉しかった。残りページがドンドン少なくなって行くのを残念に思う気持ちと引換えにこんな気持ちがまた待っているのなら、続編も是非読みたいと思う。

北森さんの作品は２作目だが、はまった。
ストーリーもおもしろいし、骨董業界の語りもぐいぐいと好奇心を引っ張り込むし、一気読みせざるをえない魅力があふれている。

美の収集といったきれいごとでは語れない、人間の欲が激しく絡み合う骨董業界の実態は、恐ろしい程である。ＴＶの鑑定モノ番組では絶対わからない、奥深い闇から闇の世界に、ちょっとひんやりとしたものを
感じる。
骨董品には、作者、所有者、収集家、売買人の様々な思いが込められており、作品の上に積み重なって、美術品に別の美を加えるのかもしれない。

この本の厚み以上の内容の濃さ。かといって、こ難しいわけではなく、北森流の文章のうまさで一気に読まされてしまう。

橘薫堂にまんまと贋作をつかまされてしまった陶子は、自分のプライドをかけて「目利き殺し」を仕掛け返そうとするが、そこに殺人事件や３０年前の贋作事件などが絡み、自分の仕掛けた罠が思わぬ方向に動きだします。犯人は誰か、と推理するのも面白いけれど、陶子の目利き殺しは成功するのか、その結果には何が待受けているのか、先が気になり読書を中断するのが難しい、そのぐらい面白い作品です。
骨董商という特殊な世界を覗き見したようで、こういったこと（贋作作りとか）がほんとにあるのかないのかはわからないけれど、とても興味深い世界です。単なるミステリーの枠にはまら!ない、５つ☆の作品です。
