各章の始めに起こること、言うなればミステリの舞台裏が説明されて、それから本編を読み進めるという形式で、この章では伏線張ってあるだの、出し惜しみせず全てを曝け出す。これはもう“ミステリ入門書”とでも呼ぶべき代物ですね。ミステリの楽しみといえば、フェアに騙され、自分の思考力を疑い（笑）、酩酊に入ることだと思う。そういった意味では酩酊レベルMAXでした。注意すべきは、表向きのミステリ（ストーリー）だけを読まないこと。大事なのは作者が施した仕掛け！“ヤラれた”と思った時に気付いて下さい。“フェアだ”と思えたら、立派なミステリ読者!?

　山荘物というのは、好きな人にはたまらない。そういう私も知人のすすめで読んでみたが、見事に騙された。派手さはないが、昔に読んだのに、その騙された悔しさを今でも覚えている、それは私のようにかなりのミステリを読んでいる者にとっては、珍しいことだと思う。倉知さんという方は、結構曲者。要チェックです。

本作は各章の冒頭に、その章の要約を
兼ねた注意書きが掲げられているのが特徴。

たとえば、一番最初の文章では、語り手（ワトソン役）が
事件の犯人でないことが、はっきり明言されます。


登場人物はわずか九人。

しかも、先のワトソン役に加え、何人かは
被害者となるため、容疑者の枠から外れていきます。

よって「意外性」という観点から残った人たちをふるいに
かけ、犯人を推定することは、比較的容易だといえます。


しかし、犯行の方法や経緯を含めた事件の全容を、あくまで論理的に
解明しようとするなら、細部までしっかり読み込む必要があります。

その点で作者は実にフェア。

作中のあるシークエンスまでに解明に必要な材料をすべて提示する
だけでなく、注意書きにおいて、伏線の場所まで明示しています。

まさにパズラーとしての条件を、余す所なく
そなえた正統派ミステリといえるでしょう。


読者を幻惑する変化球や魔球、あるいはバットを振ることも許さない剛速球といった作品は
数あれど、本作のように、打ちごろのストレートで読者を空振りさせるような王道作品は、
現在では希少なのではないでしょうか。
