昔、御手洗シリーズを読みあさった時期に一度読んだのですが、長旅もあり久しぶりに手に取りました。
トリック云々の前に、ストーリーが面白い。
多少強引な部分もありますが、元町、関内あたりが好きな自分としては、情景まで想像できてよかったです。
でも、やっぱ悲しい話はあとに残るなぁ。。

まさかいい年こいて本読んで泣くとは思わなかった。
自分の昔の貧乏時代を思い出してしまった・・・
正直ミステリーのプロットには無理があるような感じもしたが、
そんなものはどうでもよくなる”何か”に感動した。
うまく表現できないけどこれが島田氏の筆力なんでしょう。

あまり本を読んで感動することなど無い私なのですが、この本に関しては別でした。

私が思うこの本の見所は、島田氏特有の筆力も大トリックもそうなのですがやはり何より、普段は人に無感心な御手洗潔がこの本で見せる優しさに他ならないとおもいます。友人を助けるために必死になった彼の姿は、読みおえた時の私の心をとても暖かくしてくれました。彼のような友人がいたらどんなにすばらしいだろうとも切に思いました。

今からこの本を読もうとしている人へ。
必ず御手洗シリーズを二、三冊読んだあとで読むことをお勧めします。そうすることで感動の度合いが変わることは間違いありません。そして御手洗潔のシリーズから目が離せなることも。

本当にすばらしい、心に残る作品です。
