三国志。
曹操が主人公で書かれたものを私は初めて読みました。
どの人物もよく知られているものと人物像が違う。誰も彼も人間味あふれていて、いきいきと魅力的。
ただの良い子ちゃんではない劉備や孔明なども素晴らしい。

三国志の曹操を主役にした作品ですが、あらすじは正史・演義どちらからもかなり逸脱しており（著者自身後に「三国志についての知識はあやふや」と語っています）また事象に対して説明が不足ですので、三国志にある程度の知識が無いと読むのが難しいかもしれません。

とにかく人間の心の明暗をそのまま形にしたような生々しいイラスト、あまりにも格好良すぎる登場人物たちのセリフが強烈なインパクトを与えてくれます。「曹操が美化されすぎ」と思う方もいるかもしれませんが、本作は著者が「外から」歴史として三国志を描いたのではなく著者の内側にある激情を三国志というモチーフに載せて表現した作品だと思います。その主役のして曹操は最高のモデルだったのでしょう。

個人的にはたいがい単純な悪役・愚将として描かれがちな袁紹・董卓・呂布などの描写も実に個性的で好きですね。こんなカッコイイ袁紹が見れるのは他に無いのでは（笑）

繰り返しになりますがとにかくセリフがカッコいいんです！本作は漫画でありながら、既に文学の域に達していると思います。

「その指、その手に、剣を握ればあるいは、天下をわがものにできるかもしれない」
という文から始まり、横山三国志では黄巾の乱（184年）からはじまりますが、こちらは曹操の幼少時代（165年）からはじまります。

恐らく最初のプロローグの雰囲気で普通の漫画とは根本的に違うことがわかると思います。
絵が美しく幻想的で、闇の中、雲に隠れた月が姿を表す様子を描くなど本当に美しい。
なにより絵とセリフがここまで美しく描写できてるのが漫画のレベルを超えてると思う。今までこんな演出を使った漫画見たことなかった。

特に戦争シーンは兵士一人一人が細かく描かれて、そこにメインを飾る豪傑たちの圧倒的な臨場感は漫画の表現の限界に達していると思う。
批評サイトに
「絵では手や正面からの顔の構図を描くのは難しくて、それと比べて蒼天航路は異常なほど手の描写にこだわっている」
という感想を見かけたんですが、なるほどその通りで上手い解説だなと思いました。

ですが、それ以上に蒼天航路が斬新なのは、まるで詩のような独特の会話にあると思います。
郭嘉の「私はあくまで西を向いております」とかかっこいい。
演出と伏線の区別が付かないような難解で幻想的な雰囲気を構築しています。
終始このクオリティで進み、18巻目に迎える最終話の、蒼天航路という題名も名前通りの意味だったと気づかされるような完結の見事さと感動は、漫画や娯楽としての域を超えたと思っています。

最後に長くなったので簡単に書きますが、今まで数々の三国志を見聞きしてきましたが、蒼天航路は三国志を扱ったものの中で最も詳しく専門的です。
モンゴル王を正式に単于と呼び、深刻だった儒者との対立を物語の主軸に構え、幼少期の曹操をアマンと呼ぶなど、それに名医カダの話の中での張仲景という人物も始めて知った。こんなことそこらで集めた雑学程度の知識でできるものじゃない。
