いくら知識武装・理論武装しても、それだけでは役に立ちません。言うまでもなく、肝心なのはそれらを使いこなせるか否かということです。そこで鍵となるのは「自分で考える力（考え抜く力）」です。この本は、著者が言うところの「勉強不足症候群（＝正解信仰）」を克服して、常識に囚われない柔軟な思考力を養うための「手引書」です。

したがって、学生だけでなく、次のような社会人にもお勧めです。思い当たるフシのある人は、本書から多くのことを得ることができるでしょう。

“新聞や雑誌は言うに及ばず、新刊のビジネス書や専門書・論文にいたるまでせっせと読んでいる。情報の洪水と日々格闘している。かくして知識は増えて人並み以上の「モノ知り」になれたような気がする。しかし、その反面、なんともいえぬ「空虚さ」・「不安」を感じている。会議などでも自分の意見に自信が持てない。他人の意見がもっともだと思えてしまう・・・。”

インプット一辺倒の「受け身」のスタイルでいると、上記のような状態になってしまうのではないかと思います。やはりインプットだけでは限界があります。ここらで一度、原点に立ち返って「自分の頭で考えてみる」ことも悪くないと思います。本書はそのためのよき水先案内人になってくれることでしょう。

岩波の「大学新入生に薦める101冊の本」のなかで薦められていた本。思考を練成するための実践的な方法について書かれている。例示も適切で、思考をどのように活性化するかについて考える上でいい本であると思う。思考練成に問いの重要性をといた本は多いが、問いの細分化、多岐化を通して思考を高める方法は、大きな示唆をうけるであろう。「発想法」でなく「思考法」で有る点が味噌です。
