著者紹介

【名香智子】
1953年、埼玉県に生まれる。1973年「別冊少女フレンド」（講談社）でデビュー。月刊「プチ・コミック」（小学館）連載の「パートナー」をはじめ、都会的で流麗なタッチの作品で人気女流漫画家として不動の地位を築いている。「プチ・フラワー」（小学館）で「パンドラ・パニック」を連載。
【ジャン・デ・カール】
1943年に生まれる。貴族の称号をもつフランスのノンフィクション作家。『狂王ルートヴィヒ』でアカデミー・フランセーズ“バカンス2000”賞受賞。
【塚本哲也】
1929年、群馬県に生まれる。東京大学経済学部を卒業し、ウィーン大学法学部に学ぶ。毎日新聞ウィーン、プラハ、ボン各支局長。、論説委員等を経て東洋英和女学院大学学長に。『ガンと戦った昭和史――塚本憲甫と医師たち』上・下（文春文庫）で第8回講談社ノンフィクション賞受賞。『エリザベート――ハプスブルク家最後の皇女』（文芸春秋）で第24回大宅壮一賞受賞。

エリザベートだけでなく、周囲の人物の心理描写が絶妙でした。
特に、皇帝フランツ、ルートヴィッヒ２世、息子のルドルフなどエリザベートに
影響を与えた男性達の描写が興味深いと思いました。

内容が史実にかなり忠実で、衣装などもところどころ実在の写真を参考にされている
ようです。
作画となったことでいままで本で読むだけではぼんやりとしていたそれぞれの人物象に、
（良いか悪いかわかりませんが）新しいイメージが追加されたように思います。

ただ、幼少期からいろんなエピソードを持つエリザベートを１冊のマンガで表現するのは
やはり限界があるようで、少々展開が速過ぎる感もありました。叶うならば３部作などで
じっくり読んでみたい気がします。

彼女との出会いはミュージカルでした。
宝塚版も東宝版もとっても良かったです。
この漫画版からは、ミュージカルとはまた違ったエリザベート像が浮かんできます。
漫画なので、伝記ものの本と比べても、お手軽でサクサク読めると思います。
エリザベート入門にどうぞ☆☆

　他のエリザベート関連本と比べ、本書で面白いと思ったのは、息子のルドルフ皇太子の取り扱い方でした。情死事件を、急進改革派らによる謀殺とし、バイエルン王ルートビッヒ二世との意味深な（同性愛）関係を描いたことでした。作風には、ビスコンティ監督の『ルートビッヒ/神々の黄昏』の耽美な雰囲気も出ています。厳格な姑、馴染めない格式ばった家風に反発、ままならない養育、シンデレラとは違い、悲劇的でドラマチックな人生は、エリザベートを伝説の高みへと押し上げる。本書は、そんなエリザベートの魅力を充分に見せてくれます。
