主に家族関係の異常に言及した良著。

夫婦間の共依存症、アダルトチルドレン、
引き篭もり、非行などを中心に語り、
現代の隠れた偏見による様々な社会問題について、
大変開けた観点で指摘している。

家族間のことで悩んでいる方にとっては、まさに必読。
自分の悩んでいても分からなかったことや
感じていた違和感が解かれていくのを感じるはずだ。
この本のテーマは2005年現在でもしっかり通じるし、
むしろ、ここで語られていることは深刻化している。
家族関係を見直したい方、もしくは
家族関係に何らかの違和感を感じる方は是非読んで欲しい。

登校拒否や引き篭もりは、まさに声に出来ないメッセージである。
ただ社会に適応するように、指導するのではなく、
この本のような開けた視点でその声に耳を傾けて、
現代社会の病理を認知して、対処していくことが大切である。

　自分の今の夫や子供との関係についてだけでなく、自分が育ってきた環境についても考えさせられます。両親の関係、両親はどう育ってきたのか、そして私と家族の関係が希薄であるわけが　ぼんやりと理解できる気がしました。自分について深く考えてしまうので、つらくなってしまう事もあります。でも子供には　息苦しい家族でないように接していこうと思っています。

家族関係に悩んでいたわたしにとって、この本との出会いは、近すぎてわからずにいたものが、いったいなんだったのかを、教えてくれました。
“家族”という閉鎖された人間関係の中で、弱者たる“子供”が受ける精神的ストレス、あるいは虐待(身体的でなく言葉によるものも含む)が生じる理由がよくわかりました。

これがきっかけで、独立して生活することになりました。
もっとも、心に根付いたものは、振り払うことはできませんが。
