最近、父から自分の家の家紋を教えてもらい、家紋から先祖が農民なのか武士なのか知りたいと思って、買いました。

この本は家紋がどういうものをイメージして書かれたか、どういう意味を持っているかなどが知ることができます。

あとは、その家紋を使った人などの苗字（苗字だけ）も書かれています。巻末では、苗字から家紋を探すこともできます。

ただ、この本は、家紋の基本形が中心なので変形の家紋についての説明はありません。

自分の家紋は残念ながらありませんでした。しかも、自分の知りたいことは書いてなかったんでちょっと残念。

まあ、基本形はあるので、それをみて満足しました。

自分の家紋を見るだけと思って買った本なのですが、母の旧姓から家紋を調べたりして、なんとか自分の関わりのある家紋を調べたり、歴史の有名な人の家紋を調べて結構楽しめました。

苗字から家紋を探すとき、苗字でしか調べられないので、同じ苗字の人は、違う家紋なので確定しずらいです。あと、複数の家紋を持っている家柄もあります。なので、歴史の有名人の家紋は第三者の立場として、この本では探せない部分があります。

買う価値は自分は十分あると思います。

帯に『家紋の図案に秘められた約束ごとからすべてわかる!』とあったんですがイマイチ期待外れでした。大抵、源氏(或いは平氏)支流(或いは諸氏)○○氏○○氏使用と紋の形の説明ばかりで疲れます。

でも、やっぱり知ってる武将の名前や家紋を見るとニヤニヤしますし紋だけ見てても楽しく紋のモチーフに関する

歌もたまにあって感心しました。

索引には読みがあるのに普通に紹介されてるのページでは読みがあったりなかったりで微妙に読めない名前もあったので

全部読みを振っといて欲しかったです。


(自分のは無かったですが)自分のルーツを知るのには良い一冊かも知れませんが

武将の家紋を調べるのは不適切。書いてある事は書いてありますが知りたい事と余りに的を得ず

マイナーな武将はわからないので戦国時代・戦国武将に絞った家紋の本が欲しいです。
