友人に薦められて読んで見ましたが、数ページ読み出したら「これはきっと面白い！」という感じがしました。案の定、二転三転する展開に思わず引き込まれました。
推理物が大好きな私でも予想できない結末に感心しました。
きっと誰にでも予測できないでしょう。
直ぐに続編を探したくらい読み応えがあります。

美形のキャラクターは勿論、その他を取り巻く魅力有るキャラクターや設定に作者の才能を感じます。
続編を読むのが楽しみです。
後書きも面白かったですよ。

もし、中世ドイツに公正な裁判を売り物にする都市国家があったなら……というのが、この作品の出発点だ。実に面白い設定だ。問題は、どうやって判決を原告・被告双方に受け入れさせるかだが、著者の解答は「二万人の軍隊」による威圧である。いや、いいんですよ。当時の中世都市の平均的な人口の倍以上の軍隊（ああ、維持するのに幾ら金がかかることか！）、フランス王が召集しうる諸侯・騎士・兵士とどっこいどっこいの数の軍隊を、一帝国自由市が保持してても。そんな軍事的脅威を他の諸侯が、容認してることにしても。なにしろホワイトハートだし。でもせっかくホワイトハートなんだから、そんな中途半端にホントっぽいウソでなく、「天命」とか「仙」とか「麒麟」にすれば……おっと、これじゃ十二国記か（苦笑）　しかしねえ、正義は卵と同じで、馬車で旅はできないのだ。二、三週間で腐ってしまう。メンドリのまま運ぶならともかく……難しいもんです。
