最近の芥川賞の中で、一番がっかりしました。なぜ？これが純文学？だれか教えてください。

津村さんは、こういう作風しかかけないのか、それとも他の筆力を持ってらっしゃるのか。

これからの読者に試されるんでしょうか。しんどいですね。

と感じずにはいられなかった。ストーリーに動きがない。登場人物も退屈でした。
読み終えた私をえらいと思った。
読後の感想は「で、何を言いたかったの？」という感じでした。
私も自宅ですから、仕事３つ持ってれば月に１３万貯めれるなーとか。派遣じゃないけど。
ナガセが夢を持ったいきいきとした人なら分かる。でも全然そうじゃない。
飄々とした彼女がなぜ世界一周なんてパワーのいることをしたいのか、全然伝わってこなかった。
津村さんは悪くない。「現代の若者って夢があってもパワーないんですわー」と、こういう小説なんだと思えば。
ただこれが芥川賞受賞ってどうなの？と思う。
受賞したことで期待感を持って呼んだために、落胆も大きかった。
津村さんが気の毒にも思えた。

芥川賞受賞作であるこちらには、2つの中短編が収められています。
まず表題作の｢ポトスライムの舟｣は、非正規雇用者として3つの仕事を持つ29歳独身女性：ナガセが主人公。
そのうちの1つである、契約社員として働く工場での年収163万円と同額で世界一周旅行ができると知り、それを目標に貯金を始める話。
実家暮らしということと、3つ仕事を持っているため、カフェとパソコン講師の稼ぎがあれば、工場の収入をまるまる貯金できるという、長時間働く大変さはあっても、経済的にはある意味恵まれた状況は、一人暮らしの読者からすれば考えられないことかもしれませんが、現実としているであろう女性像です。
その割に｢現実感｣が感じられないのは、そんなナガセの心の動き(自分自身や周囲に対してどう感じているのか)が、書かれてはいても描写に丁寧さが欠けるため、生き生きと伝わってこないことが挙げられるでしょう。

もう一つの｢十二月の窓辺｣は、職場の上司や先輩から｢パワハラ｣を受けている主人公：ツガワが、いかにしてそこから抜け出したかという話。
そのパワハラの様子はわりとリアルに描かれていますし、結末でそれなりに考えさせられるものもありますが、被害者であるはずのツガワに対しても、｢何をやらせても中途半端｣感が否めず感情移入はできないため、読み進めるのが非常に苦心しました。

芥川賞が｢純文学｣に贈られるものであり、純文学が｢読者ウケや流行を度外視して、純粋に芸術性を追求した文学｣であるのなら、本来は純文学を読むにあたっては｢読者が感情移入できるか否か｣は評価に含めるべきではないのでしょうが、それを忘れさせるほどの、純文学であるべき優れた心理描写や、頭に残る表現、言葉遣い、色彩豊かに目の前に浮かんでくる情景描写がこの作品には感じられなかったため、あえて評価を低くしました。
