面白いエッセイは書けないことがよくわかる。実際最後まで読めない。冗長、の一言に尽きる。やはり小説です。小説ではこの人の右に出る人間なんていない。ボクはこの人の小説を書く技術に心酔しています。

本作は、まさに才能のなせる凡作。迷いなく☆ひとつで。

事前に、小説だと思い込んで手をとって、冒頭を読み、こりゃぁ違うぞ！と思いながら読み進んだ。著者のアフリカのセネガルへの旅行記だ。

セネガルの男の子達が頼りないんだけど、いじらしく、かわいくみえたり、日本女性のたくましさを感じたり、日本人の一部が世界で勘違いしちゃっているところとか、楽しめた。著者のように地元の人の輪に入っていくのは、いいよね。もちろん、そこの人ではないのだけど。言葉以外にも通じることってあるよね。

なにより、セネガル行ってみたくなります。そして、セネ飯くいたいねぇ、ともれなく思います。

　セネガルに滞在した紀行文。セネガルって、大半の日本人にとってはイメージのわかない国だと思う。「はじめに」で「なぜ、セネガルなのか」を書いています。フランス語圏でドゥドゥ・ンジャエ・ローズがいるからだそうが、オレにとってはドゥドゥ・ンジャエ・ローズもわからない。
　ボディガード無しで町を歩き、セネメシを食い、ブーブーを作って着るし、ドゥドゥ・ンジャエ・ローズにも会い、どんどん現地に馴染んでいく。少々女々しいことを書いてたりするが、やっぱ、絲山秋子は男前だわ。
