　ＮＨＫの爆問学問という番組がベースになってかかれており、記念すべき第一回放送を書籍化したものです。

　さすがに放送一発目ということで、今、日本で一番ノーベル賞に近い人といわれている発生生物学の権威、現東大副学長の浅島誠先生との対談が中身です。客観的に見ても爆笑問題のギャグがところどころに挿入されていて、非常に読みやすいのではないでしょうか。

　自分は法学徒であるので、大学のカリキュラムにはこの分野が組み入れられていません。しかし法律、すなわちルールはどの世界にも存在しているものです。一般教養を習わない大学生や、教養を深めたい年配の方々、あるいは自分の将来をどうするかとまどっている高校生にオススメします。

　ただ星５つにしなかった理由は、番組内の対談を一冊の本としてまとめたものなので、映像では理解できたとしても、活字にされるとわかりにくい部分が２，３箇所見受けられたので、こういう評価にいたしなした。

アクチビンというたんぱく質の研究で世界的に有名になった浅島誠博士の研究室を爆笑問題が訪問し、カエルやイモリなどを通して実際の発生生物学の研究現場とその成果をわかりやすく紹介している。

一般向けに易しく紹介してあり、大変興味深い内容だった。元々TV番組で放映されたものを本にしたものだが、本の方が仕組みの説明はじっくりと読めるという利点がある。反面、小さめの本書の中の小さい白黒の静止写真ではTVと違ってVisual面でわかりにくいのが残念だった。

個人的に興味深かったのは、地味なプレハブの研究室でノーベル賞級の研究が行われているというところと、生命科学研究の倫理面に関しての爆笑問題と浅島教授の突っ込み問答。特に後者に関しては、デリケートな問題についてユーモアを交えながらこれだけズバッと突っ込めるのはお笑いタレントならではの強みであるように思った。
