1988年世の中がバブルの頂点を極める頃，主人公:世良雅志は東城大学医学部の坂道を外科研修医1年生として駆け上っていた。手術への徹底した手洗いを終えた世良を待っていたのは同大学医学部教授：佐伯による胃ガン全摘手術であった･･･

チームバチスタからジェネラルに至るまでの番外を含めての現在の4作から，昭和の終焉期に時代をさかのぼっての話となる。物語の主格をなす『ブラックペアン』とそれを巡る学内の権力抗争の様相を若き日の高階などを中心に描いていく。その中に全4作の主人公や脇役たちの若き日が描かれているのが，全作までのファンとしてはたまらないのではないかと思う。特に藤原，猫田，花房の若き姿は印象的であった。単体としても面白いが，全作読んでおいた方が一段面白い作品であることは間違いないと思う･･･

海堂尊さんの処女作『チームバチスタの栄光』はダヴィンチコード以来の面白い小説だ〜とわくわくして一気に読みました。すごく面白かった。
以来『ナイチンゲールの沈黙』『螺鈿迷宮』と読み、うーんなんか迫力がなくなってきたかなぁ･･･と思っていたところ『ジェネラルルージュの凱旋』。なかなか面白いぞ！と復活の予感。
そして『ブラックペアン1988』。処女作に劣らない面白さでした。
登場人物も個性的で、みんなそれぞれに違う強さを持っていて･･･クライマックスでは泣いてしまいました。
次回作も期待します。
いろいろ好き勝手に書いてしまいましたが、ブラックペアンを読む前には、やはり全作を読んでからをおすすめします。読んでいたからこそ楽しめる部分が多々あると思います。

　「チームバチスタ」から「ジェネラルルージュ」までは好調だったシリーズが、「螺鈿迷宮」で少々がっかりさせられたので、どうしようかなとかなり迷ったが、結局、手にした。杞憂だった。まずは研修中の田口先生以下３名の書くレポートがいい。それぞれの性格を端的にあらわして、見事。あと主役ではないが、やっぱり高階院長はこの作品の要だけあって、若いころも実に素敵だ。なぜお名前が「ゴンタ」なのか、いつかわかるといいと思う（笑）。
