川上さんは私のもっとも好きな作家で、単行本は必ず買ってしまう。
あとがきにあったように、エッセイじみている短編集。
本書の帯に「虚と実のあわいを描く」とあり、これはうまい言い方だなあと思った。
どうともつかない、けれどもよく知っているあわいに、うっすらと輪郭がつくような
不思議な感覚に接することができる。
雑誌に掲載されたときもいくつか目にして入るが、単行本としてまとまって読むと本当に心地よい。
「夜の公園」のような熱の最中にいるような人たちが描かれているものも好きだが、
寝る前に好きなページを開いて好きなところで灯りを消せる本書は当分枕元の友です。

長編も好きだけど、このぐらいのショートショートほのうが、わたしはコノ人にはあっているような気がします。
長いお話だと埋もれてしまいがちな、ほんとに何気ない小さなエピソードたち。川上弘美の世界ではそれが個人的には惹きつけられるところだったりします。いちいち「あ。想像がつくわあ」と頭の中に情景が浮かんでくるような、それらの小さいものたちが、今回のような短いお話では、主役をはっているので、アノテコノテで楽しませてもらえました。
彦麻呂じゃないけど、まさに「宝石箱」ですね。
短い通勤時間でもキリよく読めるところもオススメです。

川上さんの短編集。短いお話がいっぱい収録されてます。川上短編に登場する人たちは、いつだって素敵ななまえを持っている。川上さんの小説では、いつもだれかが誰かの名前を呼びかける。それは、なんだかすごくやさしい。

「なあ、春子」ケン坊が言った。ケン坊に、春子、と呼びかけられると、いつもわたしのおなかのあたりは、とくんとくんとなる。
…
「ケン坊」わたしは小さな声で言った。わたしのすぐ横でしゃがんでいるケン坊の体温が、隣のわたしに伝わってくる。ケン坊はいつも大きくてあたたかい。ケン坊は、じっと水かまきりのたらいを見つめていた。
「ケン坊、アイス食べに行こう」わたしが言うと、ケン坊は立ち上がった。もう一度空を見上げ、少しため息をついて、歩き始めようとした。

2.0 out of 5 stars はあ？全く無感動
短編は読みやすくてよいのですが、その代わり、よほどの作品でないと読み応え感がないのが難。こちらも、全編、「？だから？」という感じで、感動も、心の響きもなかった。
