些細な出来事なのに後になってすごい意味のあることだったり運命を考える不思議な物語で、最後の最後にいろんな事が『そうだったんだ〜』ってパズルがピッタリはまる様な読み応えのある本でした。蛇石とか出で来るのだけれどみて見たい気持ちにさせるきれいな石として描かれていました。
登場人物達がみんな自然体で食卓を囲む場面がよく出てきましたがそこも懐かしいようなとても読んでいて気持ちの良い好きな場面です。

　最近の長野さんはこのような日本の妖怪というか、自然の神の力というか、そういうテーマが多いですね。でもそれが長野さんの言葉と相まってとても深い世界を作り出しています。雨とか、湿気が必ずキーワードで出てきますね。
　しかしちょっと話が込み入っていて、雰囲気を楽しみながら軽く読むつもりだった私には少し重かったです。
　私にはこのお兄ちゃんが「あめふらし」の橘河に通じて見えてしまいましたが、どうでしょう････。

　この本から長野まゆみに入る人っているのかな？だとすると、括弧のつかない会話調で書かれた文体には、かなり戸惑われるはず。慣れてしまえばどってことないですが。
　内容は、本当に長野さんらしい、どこまで信じていいのやら（笑）という言い伝えに満ちていて、私にはとてもおいしかった。ちょっと前まで（と言っても結構たつのか）そこかしこにあった日本の「当たり前」でいっぱいの作品だ。
　今は当たり前に道だと思って通っているところが実は昔の水路、というのは、多摩地区には結構あって建築確認に引っかかったりしているが、谷中なんかにもあるんだね。そうか「へび道」か。
　これから困りそうなのは、鏡餅を見るたびにとぐろを巻いた蛇を想像してしまいそうなこと（笑）。これって本当なのかな。
　追記:装丁も凝っている。薄い透かし模様のある紙に印刷されて、花蘇芳のような綺麗な色の糸で綴じてある。
