「40」には、まだ辿りついていませんが、そろそろそういう年代に差し掛かってきたので、書店で手にとってみました。
「真夜中のセーラー服」以下、六篇はまあ良かったと思います。それが、全部まとまったラストの「日比谷オールスターズ」は、少し作りすぎかなあと思いました。何から何までハッピーエンドに終わる感じで、含みがありません。予定調和的です。
　表現は随所にきらりと光るところもあるのですが、一方で、ひっかかるところもありました。例えば、「ビールも人生も同じだった。生であることに意味があるのだ」とか、こういう表現はあまり好きになれません。軽薄に聞こえます。癌になった卓巳について描いた「はい、それまでよ」も、内容はまあまあでしたが、題はついていけませんでした。
　主人公の喜一と妻の涼子との関係修復についても、あまりに急な感じで、その過程が共感できませんでした。ただ、主人公喜一の純粋な物の考えかたには、共感するところも多々ありました。

全然面白くも何ともない。現実的な話なのかと思っていたら、たんなるおとぎ話。ついてない男の話かと思ったら、ほんととてつもなくラッキーな男の話。なんだよこれ。フリーになった途端に籍を置く会社にはIT長者から融資がくるわ。ブログを書けば大ヒットするわ。元部下の女子社員に好意を寄せられるわ。最後は仕事も私生活も充実しまくりときた。こんな脳天気な小説久々ではないだろうか。呆れた。灰色の海だけど灰色の港を目指して渡るしかないって話を期待してたけど、ほんとお気楽で楽観主義な小説でした。

現在、我々の世代が置かれている状況にはリアリティーがある。ただし、ストーリーは無茶苦茶主人公や依頼者に都合が良いように展開していく。同世代の方達が希望を持てるように本書を書きましたと作者は言っていたが、世の中こんなに甘いものではない。同世代で本当に苦しんでいる人達は本書を手にとってはいけない。本を叩きつけたくなるだろうから。
