国語の授業でやってたのは文章読解が中心だし、読書感想文だって内容を評する類のものだったような気がする。日本語の表現は多彩であり、それを読み解くことはじっくり学ぶ。しかし、書くテクニックに関してはほとんど言及されない。大学まで通っておいて、「作文」のテクニックについて体系的に学ぶ機会がなかった。
文豪たちの美しい文章ははっきり言って才能だ。しかし、「わかりやすい」文章を書くための「技術」はこの本にまとめられた基本を抑えることで確実に身につけることができる。

　第一章　なぜ作文の「技術」か
　第二章　修飾する側とされる側
　第三章　修飾の順序
　第四章　句読点のうちかた
　第五章　漢字とカナの心理
　第六章　助詞の使い方
　第七章　段落

きちんとした文章となると文法がどうとか言及されそうに思いがちだが、総じて述べられているのが、語順や句読点のうちかたについてである。読みにくい文も、語順をいじれば、ずいぶん読みやすくなる。新たに覚えることは無く、ちょっとした改善のための知識なので、取り込みやすい。

大切なのは、読む側にとってわかりやすい文章を書くこと。
文章にいまいち自信が持てないという方は、是非ご一読を！

読み手にとってわかりやすい文を書く教科書です。
練習用のノートを用意して、是非どうぞ。


以下、長文ですがご容赦を。
　・主・述を対応させる
　・修飾は「長いほど先に」「節を先に」
　・音読して句読点の配置を決める
　・助詞「は」は強調時だけ。「が」が使えるなら「が」に
などなど、改めて書き出してみると当たり前のことのように
思えることかもしれません。しかし、これらを徹底するだけ
でも十分な効果があります。もちろん、本には更なる技術が
紹介されています。

なお、本書では長文を必ずしも悪としていないことにも特徴
があります。ただ、その理由は「問題は書き手が日本語に通
じているかどうかであって、長い文はその実力差が現れやす
いために、自身のない人は短いほうが無難」とのこと。
文における読み手へのわかりやすさは、事実・論理の正確さ
と、感情を押し付けないことが元になります。長い文は、
これらのいずれかを害してしまいがちです。このため、私は
まだまだ長い文を用いることができません。

また、後半には、新聞記者としての著者が取材への心構えを
紹介しています。すなわち、読み手に強く訴えるには具体的
に書くこと、そのためには10倍の背景取材が必要である、と。
書くことは本書の技術そのものを訓練で培えばよいが、取材
はそのときの努力が必要です。取材に努力を向けられるよう、
書く訓練は地道に行っていきたいですね。

論文を書くために教授から薦められた本です。現在、日本語教師をしていますが、この本と、もっと早く出会いたかった。目からうろこです。義務教育の国語の時間にこの授業をしてくれていたら、もっと日本人の文章力は海外でも通用したのでは・・・・と思ってしまいます。
題名は硬そうですがとても読みやすくまとまっています。手紙やブログやメールでの文章も今よりUPすると思います。
