少年の凶悪犯罪と、少年法の壁に追いやられる被害者遺族の憤慨といった極めて今日的テーマを持つミステリー。若妻を少年３人に殺された夫の心情から始まるストーリーだが、いざ話が動き出すとまるでドミノ倒しのようで主人公と共に心身ともに降り回される思いが味わえる。少年犯罪というテーマを抱えてはいるが、加害者と被害者という立場の複雑な絡み合いのトリックはその枠を越えている。やや複雑すぎて頭の中では整理しきれないくらいだった。主人公の妻のキャラクターが重要なのに書きこみ不足だったのが残念。

まず主人公の心情がしっかり表現されていて、感情移入出来、最後まで飽きずに読める。
ミステリーとしては、伏線が繋がり、あの２人の犯人を自分の中で見当付けることが出来たが、最後の一人に関してはそれまでに伏線がほとんどなく、最後の主人公との対談だけで色々話を詰め込み過ぎていて、突然って感じがしてならない。最後の人物がわかってしまうような伏線だと逆につまらなくなってしまうと思うが、最後の話を聞いて納得するぐらいの伏線を加えて欲しかった。あれだと最後に無理矢理完成させた感があり、話に出した人間で少年法に賛成する者なら誰でもよくなる気がする。
でも書き方や表現の仕方、登場人物などは新人とは思えないほどしっかりしていて、ずっと楽しませてくれたのでこの人の本は毎回買うことになると思う。

細かいことを書くとこれから読む人に申し訳ないので書かないが、掛値なく面白い。少年犯罪を題材に使っているのだが、ストーリー展開が絶妙で、特に後半は本に引き込まれてしまう。最後の意外なオチがまたよい。お薦めである。
