ポストカードを集めていて画集がでないかと
待ちに待って買いました。
でも、文章が多くちょっと物足りない気が
しました。が彼の事がわかってそれはそれで
良かったかな？と思います。

5.0 out of 5 stars 画集ではなく、本のタイトル通り「ミヒャエル・ゾーヴァの世界」です, 2007/1/27
この本を、ゾーヴァ氏の画集だと思って購入すると意外と文字の部分が多くてちょっと肩透かしかもしれません。けれどもゾーヴァ氏のエッセイは率直でユーモアに満ちており、作品のこと、家族のこと、ベルリンに対する思い、日本を訪問した時の驚きなどが語られており、これらを読むことで「ゾーヴァの世界」に近づけました。
余談ですが、彼が知っていた日本語が「カンパイ」と「トリミダシタ」の２語だけで、日本滞在中はその連発だったというくだりでは声を出して笑ってしまいました。

ゾーヴァさんの場合、他の本は挿絵作家というポジションになってしまうので、絵も語りも全部ゾーヴァ・ワールドという、うれしい１冊です。
語りの中では、描き直しのゾーヴァさんらしく、あの本のあの絵はちょっと失敗したといった率直なコメントもあり、その本を見直す楽しみもあります。何よりも、彼のパーソナリティが伝わってくるところがいいですね。
