　まず何よりもビジュアル重視の内容が特徴的で良かったと思います。原作者の生涯をはじめ、ムーミン世界のキャラクター、各作品のストーリーダイジェストなどを、豊富なイラストや写真で解説した本書にあって、最も注目すべきは、ムーミン博物館の展示品の中でも、ムーミン屋敷を筆頭に、ムーミンシリーズの作品から印象的な情景を、模型で再現した造形物の数々にあります。まさに素晴らしいの一言に尽きました。ムーミン屋敷は、原作やアニメで描かれたとんがり屋根の付いた円形状のシンプルな建物と違って、いろいろな建築様式が混在した複雑でユニークな外観が面白く、内部も覗けるようになっており、ムーミンパパやママも自室にちゃんといて、ずっと眺めていたい気持ちになりました。ジオラマは、『ムーミン谷の彗星』に登場した天文台や難破船、水浴び小屋、海のオーケストラ号、飛行鬼の魔法で、テーブルが浮かび上がるシーンなどが紹介されており、精巧で忠実に再現するだけにこだわりを見せる以上に、手作りの持つ暖かさや、トーべ・ヤンソン氏の祖父の文鎮が、ムーミンパパの水晶玉に使われたり、難破船にかかる蜘蛛の巣は本物だったりと、使用された材料にまつわるエピソードや出所からは、作者を含めた模型製作者たちのムーミン作品に対する愛情がよく伝わってくるようでした。本書をきっかけに、現地で実物をぜひ見てみたいと思うようになりました。

ムーミンに関する書籍はたくさんあるけれども、意外となかったのがフィンランド人自らによるムーミン作品、トーベ・ヤンソン・ムーミン博物館の解説本。今回ついにムーミン谷博物館で長く学芸員をされている方が書き下ろしてくださいました。この本は、研究本でも読んでいるかのようにとても資料的な価値が高い作品です。また、内容に豊富な画像が使われているにもかかわらず、価格もお手ごろになっているので直ぐに購入しました。日本語も非常に丁寧に訳されていました。ムーミンファンなら必見の一冊だと思います。おすすめです！

フィンランドのタンペレ市立美術館ムーミン谷博物館で働いているミルヤ・キヴィという人が書いた本の翻訳です。内容はとても充実していて、たくさんのイラストを交えムーミン誕生秘話やムーミン谷の住民またはムーミン谷そのものについて、また、原作に登場した者について紹介をしています。実際にムーミン谷博物館のコレクションも解説してくれているので、とてもわくわくしながら読めます。
ムーミン屋敷はあまりにも精巧に作られているのでびっくりするほどです。
その他、数々の造形物の紹介もあり、ムーミンが好きであれば始めから終わりまでいっきに読んでしまうでしょう。ムーミンファンには必見です。
