組織の中で生きるということ､その日常のドラマをしみじみとかみしめさせられる逸品でした。

警察官､検察官､新聞記者と、語り手の職業は変わっていきますが､組織の中で仕事をしていく上での理想と現実のギャップ、周囲との軋轢、家庭の問題等など、仕事をしている者なら誰もがどこかで共感できる心理情景が、描写の中から浮かび上がってきます。

語り手たちの周囲の人間描写にもリアリティがあるんですよね。
あ、こういう人ってどこの職場にもいるんだよね､みたいな。

脇役にしか見えない人たちの日常にも葛藤のドラマがある。

梶という存在も空白の2日間の謎解きも、事件にかかわる人々を描くための触媒なんじゃないか、と感じられました。

元々読みたいと思っていた作品なのですが、中々機会が無く、
先日やっと、知人に借りて読みました。

内容としては（心理描写やそれぞれの人生観等が）とても分かりやすく、読みやすい作品です。
また、6人の男達を通して、巧く話を進めていると思いました。
其々の人生にとても入りやすく、共感できる部分も多々あります。

しかし、何て言うんでしょうか･･････引っ張った割には最後の“落ち”のインパクトが余り無かったような気もします。
ミステリーというよりは人間小説、社会小説に近いのではないのでしょうか。
その視点で読むのなら、とても期待通りの出来だと思います。

このミス2002年版、2001年文春傑作ミステリーベスト10ともに1位。
作品としての話題性とともに、直木賞の選考を巡る一連の騒動でも注目された作品である。

文庫化をきっかけに再読してみた。
作者の作品に共通する、「警察組織と個人のありかた」というテーマを、現職の刑事がアルツハイマーの妻を殺すという犯罪をベースにおいて、事件に関係する6人の視点から描いた作品である。
やはり、うまいし、面白い作品だと思うが、この作品を語るときに頻用される「感動」「感涙」「意外な結末」という言葉には同意できない。また、「意外な結末」についても、かなり早い段階でキーワードが作品中に出現し、それが印象的である故、そもそも「謎」に感じなかった。

細かいことを書いたが、この作品が秀作であることは間違いない。一方、アベレージの高い横山氏の他の作品と比較してこの作品が取り立てて優れているかというと、決してそうは思わない。たとえば、翌年に発行された「クライマーズハイ」の方が、「感動」という点では数段上だと思う。他の作品を未読の方は、是非これをきっかけに手にしてもらいたい。
