オリンピックのたびにヒーロー・ヒロインが登場し、 一部ではオリンピックのある年だけ盛り上がるといわれている（らしい）競泳と比べれば、まだまだマイナーな高飛び込み。しかし、10メートルの高さから飛び降りる恐怖感はスポーツ界随一だと思う。だって、遊びでたかだか2メートルから飛び込むのさえ躊躇したのは私だけではないはず。

そんな知られざる世界の魅力を描いた「ＤＩＶＥ」2巻の主人公は天才ダイバーだった亡き祖父にダイビングを教わった飛沫。選抜大会ではスポーツとしての魅力を十二分に描き、祖父の生き様とそれをたどる飛沫の心理描写は、小説としての楽しみを味わえます。

ティーンエイジャー向けかもしれませんが、ぜひ、いろんな世代の人たちに読んでいただきたいシリーズです。

スワンダイブと聞くと、四角いプールじゃなく、四角いリングに飛ぶ方が思い浮かびますｗ

今回の主人公は青森から飛込みのために上京してきた沖津飛沫(おきつしぶき)。
彼は祖父の意志を継ぎ、断崖からダイブしているところをスカウトされました。

田舎の村に住んでいるのに、純朴じゃなく早熟ですｗ
高二の飛沫は、強化合宿への選手に選ばれなかったショックや体の故障に悩み、練習を放棄して夏休みに青森へ帰ってしまいます。

で、ダイブ仲間に夏休みに何をしてたか聞かれた時の答えが
「女とセックスにふけっていた」

児童書の主人公が、夏休みに故郷に帰るものの、実家ではなく彼女の家で寝泊まりするんですよ＝('□｀)⇒
時代は変わったなぁ…

しかも男前なセリフ付き。
男性経験が豊富な年上の彼女に
「男のひとりも知らない女より、いろんな男を知ってる女に選ばれた方が光栄だ」

付き合って三年らしいので、このセリフは飛沫が中三の時のものです。
中学生がこんなこと言うだろうか…


それはともかく、やっとダイブの面白さがわかってきました。
とても短い競技時間の中にも、個性が詰まってるんですね。
ダイブという競技に対する、著者の熱意も伝わってきましたｖ
