村上作品人気の秘訣のひとつは「魅力的な登場人物」だと思うのだが、この小説はその点でもっとも成功している。登場するすべてのキャラクターに魅了され、彼らにつきまとう危うさにハラハラしながら一気に読み終えた。巻末に近づくにつれ、「もっとストーリーが続いてほしい」そんな気持ちになる。個人的には五反田君と友達になりたい。

小説の内容が非現実的なところがあり、読み終えた後、自分の存在している場所が現実のものなのか、夢の中なのか、はたまた別世界のものなのか分からなくなります。そんな不思議な世界を味わえる小説は他にないのではないでしょうか？心地よい村上春樹ワールドにどっぷりつかりたい方にはお勧めです。

ただ、この本を読む前には「羊をめぐる冒険」を読むことをお勧めします。登場人物や展開される舞台の多くが「羊をめぐる冒険」とリンクしています。

活字が苦手で、ろくに本など読んだことのないまま大人になった私が、
一転、本の虫になれたのは村上春樹作品がきっかけでした。
そんな中でもこの作品は一生手放せない作品です。

最初から最後まで不思議な空気感にすっぽり包まれて、
読めば読むほどに高揚感があり、あっという間に読んでしまいました。
今後も何度でも読み返すとおもいます。
