1906・4・6~1977・10・5。小説家。北海道の生まれ。1931年(昭6)中大独法科卒業。新潮社に入社、『日本文学大辞典』編纂、「日の出」編集。編集のかたわら同人雑誌「山」創刊、「格闘」を発表し芥川賞候補となる。41年新潮社退社、『樋口一葉』を出版。その後も一葉研究を続け、全集の編纂他一葉関係の執筆に従う。56年『一葉の日記』(筑摩書房)で日本芸術院賞受賞、63年『塵の中』で直木賞受賞。著書に『接木の台』(読売文学賞)『暗い流れ』(日本文学大賞)など多数(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)
