　ペンキ屋さんのような二匹の猫たちが、「みどり色」を作るためにいろんな色を混ぜて新しい色を発見していく物語です。例えば赤と青を混ぜると何色になるか等、普段はあまり考えないような色の作り方を分かりやすく可愛い絵で教えてくれます。また、色を作る方法だけでなくて、その色をした動物や食べ物などがたくさん登場するので、予想以上にとても面白いです。私が今まで読んだ絵本の中で、一番ためになって素敵な色の絵本です。英語の文章も簡単で読みやすいから安心して下さい。本当に大切な宝物の一つです☆

この絵本、昔「バンダイのゴールデンブック」という絵本シリーズの中に、「こねこのえのぐやさん」という題名で出てたことがありました（その時は確か佐野洋子さんの訳だった気がする）その時は、軽くて薄い小さな絵本だった。

その時の訳と違っているのと、値段がすごく上がったので、ちょっとびっくり！？時代だから仕方ないのかな（笑）
でも大人になっても、あの本もう一度読みたい、どっかに売ってないかなぁ・・・と探し回ったほど、印象深い名作です。
絵がおしゃれで、ブラッシュとハッシュというこねこたちの名前も、とってもステキ☆
二匹のこねこにまた出会えて良かった！

子供のために買いましたが、
自分のお気に入りの一冊となりました。
作者はGood Night Moonのマーガレット女史であるだけあり、
韻の踏み方、子供達をひきつける語り口が
読み聞かせにぴったりかと思います。
私は相手がまだ9ヶ月の赤ちゃんなので、
カラーキトゥンズ！と面白い声でそこだけ連呼
するとイラストを見ながらキャッキャと
近ずいてきます。
イラストが最高にファンタジーに溢れ、可愛いので
ネコ好きやパステルカラーの世界に弱いかたは
大人でも必見かと。
