シリーズの2作目の作品になります．

物語は1作目から，おそらくシリーズを通じてになるであろう問題を追いかけ，
行く先々の歴史やその土地にまつわる事件に巻き込まれていくといいうもので，
本作では『天草四郎』と『島原の乱』，熊本の天草島原を舞台に物語は進みます．
また，犯人捜しなどはあるものの，歴史とその物語性に重きを置いた作品でしょう．

ただ，軽めとはいえ事件はあまりに簡単で，メインとなるはずの物語の背景も安易．
エピローグで語られる『真相』も，見え見えな上に『狙いすぎ』に感じてしまいます．
主人公らがピンチに陥る場面にしても，稚拙に喚いているだけで緊迫感が伝わりません．

特別な血筋という設定も，言葉や道具，背景程度でそれらを意識させられること少なく，
目立ったのが，前作と同じ『技』と展開だったというのには期待はずれが大きかったです．
ほかにも，発見者など物語に影響が少ない人物についての描写が冗長なのも気になりました．

作中の『天草四郎は○○だった！』といった説は興味を惹かれますし（真偽はさておいて），
軽めのタッチで気軽に読めるのもよいのですが，もう少し物語に『厚み』がほしいところです．

なお，冒頭のとおり1作目からの続きものですが，本作は本作で一話完結となっています．
あらすじや人物紹介もほどよくありますので，ここからでも詰まることはないと思います．

ＱＥＤシリーズもそうですが、連作の場合「どうなんだろう、これは」という作品にぶつかります。カンナの２作目はそんな感じです。あいかわらず面白いですし、一気に読めますが、初作「飛鳥の・・・」ほどの読後充実感に欠けました。推測するに、今回は登場人物のストリーへのコミットが甘い、浅い、唐突だったからではないでしょうか。ただ、ＱＥＤシリーズの薀蓄の嵐には辟易する・・という方にはやはり面白い作品だと思います。しかし、私はどうしても東大在学中の才媛、貴湖の存在が鼻についてちょっと嫌になります。（友人の中には彼女のファンも既にいるのですが）

カンナシリーズ。
QEDとの差を出したいのかも知れないが
突拍子もないキャラ続出で面白味に欠ける。
QEDでやればいいんじゃないかな？
