話自体は面白く読めたし、一部の登場人物は非常に魅力的に描かれていて
読み物としてはそう悪いものではないのかもしれないが、作品全体に漂う
斜に構えたというか、スカしたような雰囲気がどうも鼻について素直に楽しめなかった。

自分には合わなかったというだけかもしれないが、なんだか微妙でもどかしい読後感。

若いクリエーター（とその卵）達が住むアパートの風景を描いています。

昨日上巻を読み終えたばかりですが、アパートのオーナーで脚本家の環と、彼女に接する漫画家の卵＝狩野の態度が興味深かったです。

アパートの住人は（長野正義と森永すみれを除いて）それぞれ恋愛関係ではない、友人同士なのですが、
特に
若い女の子で、夢を実現していて、派手でお洒落。だけれども必ずしも人付き合いが得意では無い「環」
に接する、
若い男の子で、まだ夢を実現していない「狩野」
の態度は見習いたい、と言うとなんだか僕自身が情けなくなってしまうのだけれども、「彼のようでありたい。」と感じるところがありました。

人の欠点を指摘して「もっと、人には優しくしなきゃ」と言うのは簡単だけれども、軋轢を生むことを承知の上で人に厳しく接する人にそんな事を言うのは無粋ですよね。
環の嘘に気づきながらも、その意図を汲んで、咎めず楽しく過ごす（と言う風景が具体的にこの小説に書かれているわけではないですが）狩野。
しかも、それを無自覚に行っている狩野の、ある意味では懐の深さにあこがれを抱いて、上巻を読み終えました。

読みはじめからぐんぐん引き込まれるというよりは、人物を知っていくうちに自然と読み進められる感じでした。
狩野のポジションが絶妙ですね。いちばん平凡そうだけど、じつは一番謎の人。飄々としています。
実は上巻を読み終えてもあまりぴんとこなかったんですが、下巻でやられちゃいました。伏線が心地よい作家さんですよね。ピタピタ嵌る感じが私は好きでした。
