4.0 out of 5 stars 匂いを文章で表現する筆力, 2002/3/21
例えばグルメ番組などで､タレントが「おいしい」を連発して､どんな味なのか番組を見てる者は全くわからない､ということがよくありますよね。
味を言葉で表現するのって難しいんだなぁと思います。
でもそれより匂いってもっと表現難しいと思いません？

「ある匂いを､それをかいだことない人に言葉で説明する」こんなことをやってのけるのが井上氏の筆力です。
読めば読むほど自分の知らない世界を垣間見ることができたようで､う~む､とうなってしまいます。

匂いがテーマ。
量には圧倒されました。が、勢いがつくと後半はすらすら読めた。
よく調べられよく練られている作品。
相当文献をあたっていますね。

あらすじ読んでも内容の想像が全然つかないと思うけど…
でも、一行目から井上マジック炸裂。
いきなり引きずり込まれて止まらなくなります。

ただ、犯罪のカラクリやトリックを解明する「謎解き要素」はゼロ。
犯人を追いつめていく過程と主人公の心の変化が描かれた、
”ちょっとＳＦちっくな青春サスペンス”って感じでしょうか。
まあ、カテゴリーは何にしても、
読みやすい文章、軽快なストーリー運び、
どれを取っても、やっぱりこの人巧いですね！
変な話、読書嫌いな人でも読めると思う。そのくらい読みやすい。

ボリュームもかなりあるけれど、
「嗅覚」にまつわる話も独特でユニーク。間延び感はまったくナシ。
主人公は、「匂いが見えてしまう」という
現実にはありえない嗅覚になってしまうんだけど、
そのシーンの描写もすごいリアリティがある。
井上さん自身が、本当に経験があるんじゃないかと思うくらい。
いったい何歳のときにこれを書いたのかわからないけど、
この感性、凡人じゃない。普通だったらありえないです。

読んでてゼッタイ退屈しません。
それどころか気をつけないと徹夜コース。おすすめです

著者ならではの、スムーズな物語展開。長大な話にも関わらず、一気に読める。主人公の心理の流れに、ありえないような御都合主義的な点も見られるが、些細なことであろう。
