「科学とオカルト」は科学とオカルトの違いをいくつかの視点で描かれています。今まで、自分は科学はいつかすべての自然現象を解明できるとおもていました。

しかし、この本を読むとその科学の限界が非常によくわかりました。だからと言って、科学に失望したかと言うと全くそんなことはなく、よくよく考えてみると本で書かれていることがよくわかりました。

この中で、科学とオカルトの大きな違いが共有性のことです。科学は自然現象をどんな人が実験・観察しても同じ結果が生まれることで共有性を見つけています。しかし、オカルトにはこの共有性がなく、個人の見解だけが証拠になります。ここが大きく科学とオカルトの違いになります。言い換えると、科学になるためには共有性を持ちえないといけなくなり、共有できない現象に関しては科学とはいえなくなります。

本の中ではオウム真理教に関してのことも触れており、この科学で賞めできない現象とぶつかった時に科学への信用がなくなり、オカルトという現象を信じてしまう過程が書かれています。しかし、ここでまた面白い現象を述べています。

オカルトという分類に存在した宗教。その宗教内で利用されていたシステムが、現代社会のシステムを多分に使用されていた。たとえば、教団内で使用されていたマニュアルは教祖とされた麻原の超能力に近づくものです。そのマニュアルは「レベル1」から「レベル12」まで別れています。その他にも、省庁制を取り入れたりと、自分たちで社会からの断絶を作っていた割には、社会システムを利用していたということ。

このように本の中では現代のオカルトと科学も詳しく述べています。
現代科学もまたオカルト的になっており、科学時代が細分化され、非常に細かいカテゴリで成り立っています。現代の科学は一般の人からは非常に遠い存在になっています。それは先に述べた共有性が薄れていることです。

科学とオカルトの境がよくわかり、その歴史と未来が面白く書かれた一冊でした。

　オカルトを起源とする科学だが、科学がオカルトから分離するにあたっての差異とは何か。いまあらためて科学とオカルトが混同される理由、現代社会への洞察。
　歴史認識としては正当だと思うから、論証を欠いた点について批判的な視点を持って対応すれば、科学のあり方について考える材料を得ることができると思う。
