著者紹介

【トラシュブロス・G・ゲオルギアーデス】
1907〜1977。ギリシャ出身のドイツ音楽学者。アテネ音楽院、ハイデルベルグ大学、ミュンヘン大学教授を歴任。ギリシャ古代音楽研究から西洋音楽史全般について著作多数。
【木村敏】
1931年生まれ。京都大学卒業。名古屋市立大学教授、京都大学教授を経て、現在、河合文化教育研究所主任研究員。著書に『異常の構造』『時間と自己』『あいだ』『偶然性の精神病理』、訳書にヴァイツゼッカー『病因論研究』など。

かつて，音楽の友社から出版された名著の改訂復刻版ですが，一貫して言葉と音楽の関連から，西洋音楽の発展を解き明かす名著です．たとえば，単旋律聖歌からオルガヌムが生まれる過程や，オルガヌムの音組織の考え方を言葉との関連から解き明かしており，大変啓示に富んだ書物です．音楽史の参考書では解かれていない，なぜ音楽の様式がそのように変化していったかが，言葉との関連から解かれており，大変参考になります．音楽史の参考書と併せて読むことで，豊かな理解が得られることでしょう．

中世からの音楽の変遷を言語を軸に考察したドイツ人らしい一冊。

中世、ルネサンスの声楽曲は歌詞がラテン語であったために、ラテン語のアクセントに即した音楽構成であった。しかし、それでは物足りなくなり、プロテスタントがドイツ語に訳して歌うのだが、ドイツ語には合わない。やがてドイツ語のアクセントを活かした声楽曲が生まれ、それが器楽曲に派生しドイツバロックが生まれ、音楽がアウフヘーベンしたとヘーゲル的に音楽史を解釈する異色の音楽史。

しかし、興味深い。
