証明問題の重要性を説いた本

全体で4章から成っている。
第1章は、本書の結論である、証明問題の重要性を説いている。
第2章は、証明のための試行錯誤の重要性を説いている。
第3章は、試行錯誤の際に注意を払うべき、数学的な勘所を説いている。
第4章は、実際に証明を試みるときの注意点を説いている。

身近な生活の出来事を題材にした数学啓蒙書なので気軽に読める。

日々の生活において周りを注意深く見渡してみると、ささいな刺激によって今まで気付かなかったことにふと気付くことがたまにあります。そのことと、数学におけるいわゆる「ひらめき」、つまり、一つの問題にじっくり取り組むことによって、たとえその問題に答えられなかったとしても、別の問題を見たときにふと正解への筋道が見えることがある、ということとの間にはかなりの類似性があります。

発見の連鎖、そして、それを相手が納得できるように説明しようとすることは、人間の成長には欠かせない要素です。その一連の流れが証明問題をじっくり解くという過程に凝縮されているのです。

ただ、この本自体はなんらかの「答え」を与えてくれるものではありません。なぜなら、それこそ筆者が批判する「条件反射的丸暗記」に繋がるからで、このことはサブタイトルにも如実に現れています。

数学を毛嫌いしていることの多い文系の人にこそ読んでほしい本です

『過程が大事』、『試行錯誤するのが必要』
数学的と表題にありますが、内容は数学が苦手な私でも理解できる
ものでした。
兎角、結果重視、回答があってればいいとなりがちな学校の試験ですが
過程や考え方があっていなければ意味はないという論には賛成です。
