3冊目が出たと聞いて、10年ぶりくらいに一冊目とこの本を手にとりました。子供向けの本ですが大人になってから読んでもとても面白いです。物語の流れのなかに大事な事柄がたくさん盛り込まれていて、「あぁこういう気持ち最近忘れてるな」と思わせてくれます。大人なら楽しめるかもしれないけれど子供にとって少し難しいことが書いてあったり、急に現実に戻されてしまう「あとがき」まで完璧です。のルドルフの口調も面白くつい読みながら笑ってしまいます。もし近寄ってくる猫がいたらどうしたいのかじっくり聞いてみよう、と思わずにはいられません。

ルドルフとイッパイアッテナの続編。
間があっての続編ものは、つまらなくなるか、
前作を凌ぐものになるかの両極端な作品が多い。
特にこの「ルドルフとイッパイアッテナ」の場合、
国民的な人気のある本で、作品も非常に洗練されていて、
あのままでも素晴らしい終わり方だと個人的には思ってしまいます。
しかし、この続編。前作を凌ぐ作品になっています。
教養人として成長していくルドルフ。
そして、最後の結末。
涙なくしては読めません。

ルドルフは、もう１冊出ています。合わせて３冊ーどれもどきどきしながら読み進んでしまいますよ。幼稚園年長の娘がそれはそれは楽しそうに聞いていましたから。
