幼くして父を亡くした作者が、思い出をふりかえりながら
父へのメッセージをつづった自伝的絵本。
当時(小学3年生)の視点へ舞い戻って語られているのが特徴的。

昭和時代の家や町並みや学校の様子が、細部にわたって
ていねいに描かれているので、昔のアルバムをみている
ような懐かしさがこみ上げてきました。

長谷川さんの絵本では、家族の交流をユーモスに描いたもの
が多くあります。しかし父のいない子ども時代を過ごした
という事実は知りませんでした。

父のいる家族で楽しみを共有したいという想いが
絵本を生み出す原動力になっていたのかもしれません。

古びた写真のようなトーンで
永遠に色あせない世界が描かれています。

ぼくからの亡くなったおとうちゃんへのメッセージ。

ぼくは作者の長谷川さん自身なのだそうです。
おとうちゃんは死んでしまったけど、思い出がある。
おとうちゃんは死んでしまったけど、ぼくのこと見ていてくれる。
大好きなおとうちゃんへの思いがあふれる。

やっぱり長谷川さんはただものじゃないです。
テーマの重さをあまり感じさせず、やさしく静かに心に響くいい本です。

はいけい　てんごくのおとうちゃん、
おとうちゃんとの少ないけど大切な思い出を
ぼくは一つひとつ思い出して手紙を書いている。

これは、長谷川義史さんの体験をもとにしているのだろうか。
そう思わせるほど、長谷川さんの作品はどれも温かい。
『いいからいいから』のシリーズは、子どもたちをホッとさせるし、
『ぼくがラーメンたべてるとき』は、子どもの目を世界に向ける。

どこかレトロな風景も懐かしい。
おとうちゃんは天国に行っても、こんなに幸せな思い出を残してくれた。
ぼくは、きっとやさしい大人になるだろう。

ぼくは　「かわいそうに」と　ひとに　いわれるたびに　おもうねん
ぼくより　おとうちゃんが　かわいそうなんと　ちがうやろかって。

ここを読んだとき、胸がキューンとなった。
「父の日」も近い。
世のお父さん方にも読んで頂いて、子どもに幸せな思い出を作ってあげて。
