山崎 隆之
1942年、東京生まれ。東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科修士課程修了。同大学附属古美術研究施設勤務を経て、愛知県立芸術大学へ。現在、同大学名誉教授。奈良大学、京都造形芸術大学非常勤講師。専門は日本彫刻技法史、保存修復技術(仏像)。文化財保存修復学会(諮問委員)に所属

小川 光三
1928年奈良県生まれ。日本画、洋画などを学んだ後、父小川晴暢のあとを受けて文化財・美術出版の専門社飛鳥園を継ぐ。同社社長(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

このゴールデンウィークに奈良方面を旅行してきました。たくさんの仏様をお会いし、その表情、姿、に感動して帰ってきました。ただ、心残りだったのは、なぜ、あのようなお顔だちだったのか、どうやったら、あんな姿の仏様を作れるのか、ほとんど知らずに、訪問させていただいたことでした。
奈良の仏様の本、いろいろ読みました。が、この本は、仏様をみずから本当につくれる山崎さんのお話だけに、仏様の中の木組みの構造や、つかった、塗料の話、仏師の話など、実経験にもとづく説得録があります。
奈良に行かれる前に、是非、一読をおすすめします。
