チッチがおなじみのメンバーに「好きな花」をインタビューしたり、サリーやトンコ、山下くんと海に行ったり、マユミの恋をお膳立てしたり、松木さんとお祭りではしゃいだり、なかなか充実した長編エピソードが揃っているように思いました。いつもこの巻を読んでいて思うのですが、この『小さな恋のものがたり』を読んでいると、漫画に出てくる食べ物や花が懐かしくなります。この第40集を読んでいて沈丁花の香りやワタアメの味をまた味わいたくなりました。

私が『小さな恋のものがたり』を読み始めて、かれこれ15年になります。毎年新刊を楽しみにしていられるのは、チッチとサリーをはじめ、個性豊かなキャラクターの魅力もあるのですが、やはりどの恋も「そうそう！」と共感できるところがあるからだ、と思います。
ずっと付き合ってきたのに、相手と相性が合わないのでは、と不安になる。優しすぎる相手になぜかイライラしてしまう。新しい恋を見つけて、ドキドキしてしまう。恋を思いっきり謳歌しているチッチ達の姿に、読んでいるこちらも元気を分けてもらえる気がします。
長年続いているとキャラクターにも微妙な変化があります。松木さんの話し方だとか、マユミの恋、そしてチッチ。チッチが海に行く時といえば、水着美人を気にしたり、自分の水着姿にコンプレックスを抱いていたチッチですが、この巻での海のエピソードはなかなか面白いです。チッチの登場シーン、なかなか凝っていますのでチェックしてみて下さい。
今年で第39集を迎えた『小恋』ですが、何とこの巻のラストは思わせぶりな終わり方！「え、続きはどうなるの？」とやきもきしてしまいました。思えば第９集ではチッチとサリーが一度別れてしまう、という大事件もあった『小恋』。来年の第40集ではどんな展開が待ち受けているのか、今から気になってしまいます。
