中学の頃から英和はジーニアス、和英はスーパーアンカーを愛用しています。
電子辞書にジーニアス和英が入っているのですがこれが使いにくい。
例文がジーニアス英和と同じという点でも、日本人のミスを考慮してないという点でも。
そこで、この辞典を使うときがあります。
いい点は、口語表現が充実していること、日本語特有の言い回しを非常にうまく処理していること、
特にカタカナ語で対応する英語と意味のズレがある場合にコラムで解説してあること、
同じ日本語の単語のさまざまなニュアンスをけっこう網羅している点です。
マイナス点は、かなり俗っぽいということ。若者へのアンケートを反映させて作ったということもあり、
他の方も書いているように微妙な例文があったり、俗語もかなり入っていたりします。
さらに流行の言葉を辞書に入れる際の当然のリスクではありますが、
けっこう死語も目立つ・・・
但し、若者の利用が多いことを考えて俗語を増やしたとまえがきにはっきり書いてあり、
それが本辞典の方針であるので、結局は好き嫌いでしょう。
手軽な和英の中では比較的かゆいところに手が届く商品です。

　この和英がニューアンカーの名で出版されたときの印象は強烈だった．日本語と英語の対応の適切さや用例の身近さという点ではこの和英は出色だったし，これがその後の他社の和英に与えた影響も小さくなかったのではないか．
　僕の仕事仲間のネイティブたちがもっとも高く評価する和英の中に必ず入っていた．スーパーアンカーになってから海外出張に持っていったこともあるが，日常的な表現は全て出ていておおいに満足できた．今回の改訂版も気に入っていて，頻繁に頁をめくっている．読める辞書でもある．

用例が悪乗りというここで意見が多いようですし、よそでもその趣旨のことは
言われておりますが、私は、この辞書は好きだし、いい和英辞典だと思います。

悪乗りといわれている用例がどのようなものかは、引いてみたりぱらぱら読んだり
してみると、なるほどこれのことかなと思うものが確かに見られます。
このレビューであげられているセクシャルなイメージを喚起するものも
少なくありません。しかし、他方で、たとえば彼女にアタックするという日本語
から英語でも同じ言い方をしてはいけない。というコラムがあり、（「アタック」の項）それではレイプの意味になりかねないと注意が付されています。

私はこの辞典の対象が高校生くらい以上をめどにしている以上、ある程度の
セクシャルな表現は避けて通れないと考えますし、無菌状態で子供が成長する
ことをよしと考えるものでもありませんから、露悪的でない限りは、
一定程度の大人的配慮があっても一向に構わないと思っています。

「やる」という見出し語にセックスするという訳が当てられていますが、
これなどもまだ日本語国語辞典でさえみられない一種の見識ではないでしょうか。
日本語を学ぼうという外国人でも、この辞書を手がかりに現代日本口語が
学べる教材だと思います。
