以前に小型版で読みました。自分が子供のとき、人は死ぬとお星様になると本気で信じていたなぁ、（フランダースの犬のラストの影響…）なんてことを思い出しました。子供に死を理解させるというのは、とても難しいですよね。大型版を見つけて、わが子のためにと思い、まだ理解まではできないかなぁと思いながらも、何かを感じてほしくて購入しました。切なさがいっぱいで何度見ても泣けます。でも、あったかい気持ち、勇気がわいて、がんばろう、って思わせてくれます。
小型版のときは大人のための絵本としか思っていませんでしたが、ただ大型になるだけで、中身は同じなのに不思議と子供向けに感じるから不思議です(笑）
子供が成長しても、ずっと大事に持っていたい１冊です。

銀座マリオンで「菊田まりこ展」が開催されている時にアンケートを描きながら大泣きしている女性を見ました。
実は私も書店でこの本を立ち読みしながら泣いてしまいました。

何が悲しいのか？何で泣いたのか？
自分でもよく分かりません。
また、この本を友人に勧めましたが、みな泣くことはありませんでした。

本書は一部の人の琴線に非常に深くふれるようです。
人生には必ず別れがあるということがテーマですね。

昨今話題の「象の背中」より数段名作です。
