「草原の動物」「猿の森」「海の動物」など
８つのテーマで動物の生態や特徴を紹介した本です。
１つのテーマの中でも、
最初の見開きが、変わり絵の仕掛けがたくさんついたイラストページ、
（草むらからチーターが飛び出してきたりする）
次の見開きが、実際の動物たちの写真のページと分かれていて、

（体長とか、動物としての説明がひらがなで書いてある）
両方を見ることでずいぶん世界が広がるように思います。

うちは娘が1歳半の時、動物の写真に興味津々なので、
これならたくさん出てるかな（1人で遊んでくれないかな~）、
と思って買ってやりました。
年齢的には当然まだまだ早かったのですが、本人は大興奮。

重たい本なので、テーブルに置いて飽きずに眺めています。
ページも、仕掛けのフラップも、厚紙で破れにくいので、
小さなコがパタパタめくっても大丈夫な点も◎でした。
ちなみに6歳の姪はもっときちんと楽しめてました（笑）。
イラストもリアルだし、長く楽しめておトクな本だと思います。

どんどん本に引き込まれていく息子の姿に親もビックリしました。

分かり易く８つのセクションに分けて動物を紹介しているところや全てひらがなで書かれているところ、また各ページのフラップ（変わり絵の窓）で動物に動きが出ているところもポイント。幼児から小学校低学年ぐらいまで楽しめる１冊だと思います。

「図鑑を読み聞かせる」ことはあまりないと思いますがこの本ではそれが可能です。読みなれた頃には質問しながら楽しく読めますよ！お勧めです！！

娘が四歳のときに購入しました。
最近五才になりました。動物園に行く前と行った後に見せたら反応がまるで違っていました。
アフリカゾウとアジアゾウの耳の違いを指摘したり、動物園にいなかったサルを指摘したり、かなり集中して見ていました。
水族館も行ったので、うみも欲しくなりました。
