小学校低学年のころに図書室で借りて、面白くて一気に読みました。その後も小さい魔女のよい行いを見習うように、何度か借りて読み返した覚えがあります。大人になってから、小学生のころの気持ちを思い出してみたくてもう一度読みました。何度読んでもあきない本です。

小学生の頃、一番好きな本でした。
おっちょこちょいだけど、魔女の仲間とも上手くなんてやってけないけど、彼女は彼女の勝ち方がある！生き方がある！
童話やメルヘンもののよくいるヒーローでもカリスマでもない、弱いし、ヘマばっかりだし、口は悪いしキレイでもない。
でも彼女は賢かった。
負けなかったし、なにより頑張ったし貫いた。
そんな魔女が大好きです。
私は彼女のようになれたかな。

　弱い人の味方になる無邪気な小さい魔女は，よく，魔法をまちがえます。　小さい魔女の歳は、たったの１２７歳。魔女のなかでは、ひよっこみたいなものです．だから、年老いた　年上の魔女たちにいじめられてしまいます．けれども、決して負けない小さい魔女の活躍を楽しく読んでください．

身近な魔法ばかりだから、自分もつかえたらなとあこがれました。
