私は既に海外でこの映画を鑑賞しましたが、日本公開が本当に楽しみでした！待ちに待った映画を字幕つきで見られる前に、本でおさらいしておこう、と手に取ったのですが、文章も読みやすく、グレースの言葉では表わされない気持ちも書かれているので、映画を見た方もこれから見る方も見てない方も楽しく読める作品だと思います。価格も良心的。小説と、ニコール・キッドマンの美しい演技の映画とを両方お勧めします。女性にとって、複雑な思いになる内容ではないでしょうか。

特に始めから2時間45分くらいまではとても辛く
時間が遅く感じられました。
2時間を過ぎたあたりで観るのを辞めようと思いました。
何故なら話の内容がSMっぽくて（特に首輪は気持ち悪いです）
ひたすら甚振られるグレースを見ていられなかったからです。
（結末が気になるのでどこかのサイトでネタバレを見ようと思いましたがw）。ですが後数分の我慢だと思い、最後まで観てよかったです。

人間の汚い部分が嫌と言うほど現されていて「イタイなあ」という
気分にさせられました。
特に私は女なのでドッグヴィルの女性たちの行動は
「ひど過ぎる」「こんな女にはなりたくない」と思いいつつも、
そのような行動に出る意味はわかりました。

しかし男性の方は理解できません。というよりしたくありません。
ただ男性の方なら「嫌だ」と思いつつも
解る部分があるかもしれません。
唯一これらの男性の行動を見て解ることは
「美しいって罪」ってことでしょうか。

愛し合っていた筈のトムの裏切りは最初から予想できたように
思います。しかしトムの裏切りのおかげでグレースは
「赦す事」の傲慢さを知りドッグヴィルの人々への制裁を
思いつきます。

確かにグレースは前より冷酷に成長したかもしれませんが、
グレースになら権力を持たせても、
必ずしも冷酷な使い方はしないでしょう。

最後の15分程度はとても爽快でした。
爽快と感じるのは浅はかかもしれませんが、ドッグヴィルの人々の
愚かさにしかるべき報復がされ単純に気持ちがよかったのです。

ただ2時間45分が辛すぎたので星３つです。
