　以前と較べると、何となくわざとらしいというか？少し違和感を感じていた浅見光彦シリーズであったが、本書はしっくりきている。
　というと、諸々の諸氏に怒鳴られそうだが、しかしながらこれが私の所感なのである。
　しかしながら、本書はワクワクしながら読んでいる。もちろん相変わらずの美女たちに囲まれた設定には変わりないのだが、それにしても今回は期待を抱かせずにはいられない展開に出会い、満足している。
　下巻に期待しています。

浅見光彦シリーズ。京都を舞台としたこの作品、地元の人にとっては当たり前のことかもしれないが、異なる地域に住む私にとっては、京都の歴史が魅力的でとても興味深かった。ミステリーとしても真犯人にたどりつくまでの息をつかせぬ展開が読み応えたっぷり。もちろん浅見光彦の結婚問題も相変わらず、はらはらとさせてくれた。
下巻の終りに入っている小林由枝さんの京都空想迷路も面白く、ちょっとしたガイドブックとしても楽しめる。今度はこの本を片手に京都の街を歩いてみたい。

今回面白いのは、推理に自信を持って事件の関係者と対決する浅見光彦君が、どういう目に遭うかです。これまでどちらかというと、神懸かり的な推理力で事件を解決してきた印象のある名探偵ですが、今回ばかりは少し空回りします。しかも、20歳そこそこのヒロインから40代の魅力的な女性まで、京女に翻弄されっぱなし。寂光院の放火事件や祇園祭での事故など、本当の事件もふんだんに出て来て、内容は盛りだくさん。読者は浅見さんとともに、京の町家暮らしやグルメを味わううちに、事件の謎を追い、意外な犯人にたどり着く……内田ミステリの王道的作品だと思います。
