　カバーの装飾の不気味さ。タイトルの不毛さ。それに負けないくらいの、とてつもなくぶっ飛んでいる世界がこの本の中にはあります。
　とにかく普通に読んでいくと、頭の中にいくつもの「???」が乱舞します。そこで本書を投げ出すか、そのまま読みつづけるかは読者の自由でしょう。投げ出しても少しも不思議では有りません。なにせここに描かれているのは、とても普通の人では想像すらしない、出来ない妙な世界が展開されているのです。表題作も別世界のようなお話ですが、「ジャングル・ジム」の話しの展開、あまりに普通に淡々と描いているがゆえ、狐につままれたような感覚でラストを迎えたとき、そこに恐怖を覚えるか、ある種のファンタジーを覚えるか。ぜひこれは個々人に判断して欲しい短編です。
　「ホラー小説」はよく出版されるかわりに、アイデアだけで、構成、文体と読むのが苦痛のものが多いのですが、この作者はわりと筆力も安定しており、文体もしっかりしています。そこが内容とのギャップでみそとなっているのですけどね。摩訶不思議な世界を覗けるということで、そういったものに興味の有る人にはお勧めできますよ。

　表題作はエログロ短編の秀逸作品。「姉」という理不尽な存在の設定がよかった。水商売系の女性を、オネエチャンと呼称する日本の言語感覚に、巧妙に忍び寄る名づけかたである。この言語感覚は、捨て難い。
　併録の三編は凡庸。作品集としての完成度は低い。
　ただ、やはり表題作のインパクトが強く、表紙絵も生々しい。つい、置くときは裏返してしまうような本である。

　表紙のイラストとタイトルのインパクトに惹かれて飼い……いや買いました。

　読み始めて最初の２~３行からいきなり異世界へと投げ込まれたような感覚を覚えます。更に立て続けに奇妙な造語が登場し、独特の雰囲気を醸しだしながら物語は展開されますが、設定の不気味さに慣れてしまった中~終盤においてはやや間延びした印象があります。ラストも予想できてしまうのでフェードアウトの感は否めません。

　他には、３つめに収録されている「ジャングル・ジム」という話が気に入りました。まるで絵本のような明るいタッチで淡々と読み進められますが、徐々に雲行きが怪しくなり、主人公自身が歪んでいく感覚を味わうことができます。ラスト、ちょっと切ないです。

　奇妙な世界観を味わいたい方、オススメ。
