この作品は、一度でも本気の恋をした人にとっては、とても救われる本だと思いました。
そして人間は記憶の集合体であるという考え方に、とても共感しました。
どんなに傷ついても、私たちはその恋愛から何かを学び、価値観を変え、その恋愛で過ごした大事な時間をいつまでも忘れる事なく「記憶」し、生きていく。
シンプルなそんなことが、とても素敵なことであることを思い出させてくれる作品でした。

　ただ、心の中に静かに静かに下りてきてくれる小説だった。
　読んでいる間は、相性の良い小説に巡り会った幸福感に包まれた。文章も、登場人物も、それぞれに私には心地よかったし、何よりこの小説の主題がひたひたと胸に迫った。

　「一度出会ってしまった人とは、別れることはできない。なぜなら心の中に深い記憶の湖があって、出会った人の記憶は湖の底に沈んでいるから」
　とても、本当にとてもよく分かる。
　本当は以前からずっと分かっていたはずのことなのに、こうして小説の中で言葉にしてもらったことで、私は何だか救われたのだ。

　読みながら、そして読み終えた後も、私は自分が過去に別れてしまった人のことをずっと考えている。できることなら、その人にこの小説を手渡してみたい、とさえ思っている。

　読み終えて、１時間くらい経った時、そっと、「あの人と本当に別れたのではなく、あの人とも一緒に生きているんだ」と口に出して言ってみた。そうしたら、ただうれしくて、やたら泣けて、どうしようもなかった。

週間将棋を編集長を長く務めて突然やめて小説家になったことは、知っていました。聖の青春や将棋の子というドキュメンタリーは、素晴らしい作品ではありましたがその後どんな作品を書くのだろうかと興味を持っていました。

うーん正直いって驚きました。透明感あふれる文章ってこれなんですね。ピュアな気持ちになれるというか、本を読み終えてしばらく一人感慨にふけっていました。

いままでに出会ったことのなかった作品でした。これがきっかけで大崎作品にはまってしまいました。
