　女刑事＜ＲＩＫＯ＞シリーズの第３弾は、母親となり、愛しい男と共に暮らし始めた緑子が、刑事という命の危険に日常的に晒される仕事を続けるべきか悩み続ける主軸に、若く美男子の警察官だけが無残な遺体となって発見される猟奇的連続殺人事件の裏に潜む不幸な過去を持つ２人の少女の物語を絡め、否応なしに事件の渦中へと肉薄してゆく緑子の「刑事ならでは」の勘が冴え渡っている。

　私自身はサラ・パレツキーの＜Ｖ．Ｉ．ウォーショースキー＞シリーズや、本書の＜ＲＩＫＯ＞シリーズのように、ギリギリまで自らの心と体を傷つけられながらも犯罪を追うタフな女性ミステリが好きなのだが、それは彼女たちに対する憧れとともに、その先に「何」があるのか、著者は主人公を通して「何」を読者に提示したかったのか知りたいからなのだと思う。本書で特筆すべきは、インテリ・ヤクザの山内の格好良さ。「聖母の深き淵」では落ちなかった私が惚れてしまいました（笑）。

過去の憎しみや悲しみが、何倍にもなって現在にうごめいている。人は決して癒えることのない心の傷を抱えていると、思いもよらぬ行動を起こすときがある。もう戻れないおだやかな生活。どこで道を間違ってしまったのか？誰が自分の道を変えてしまったのか？そういう思いの中から、犯罪が生まれた。犯罪の裏に隠された人の心に触れたとき、緑子は苦悩する。彼女のその思いが、読んでいる者の心を強く揺さぶる。緑子はこれからも、人の心を思いやれる刑事であり続けるのだろう。それが彼女にとって一番ふさわしい生き方のような気がする。

＜ＲＩＫＯ＞シリーズの第２弾が少し残念な仕上がりでしたが、この第３弾は期待を裏切らないパワフルさでした。1つだけ残念なのは、麻生と寝ようがＲＩＫＯに言い訳はいらない、という点でしょうか。多分、作者のＲＩＫＯへの愛情故かと思うのですが、ＲＩＫＯに言い訳はいらない、と私は思います。同時に、作者も犯人も刑事もヤクザまでも心情や他人の私生活まで吐露し過ぎる点も気になります。会話主体でかつ会話が得意な柴田先生なのでスタイルでもあるかと思うのですが、しゃべらずとも漂わせる・分からせる実力のある作家さんになられたと私は信じています。やはり、ヤクザや刑事がベラベラと動機や心情を冗長に吐露すると学生の同好会みたいな感じがしてしまうのでちょっと情けないかなぁ、と・・・これは単に私の好みかな？

ＲＩＫＯシリーズ、次を期待します。彼女の痛さは現代女性の働く痛さでもあると思います。その点も共感を呼ぶのだと思います。彼女は年齢的にも難しい年頃にさしかかってきています。つまり、女性の容姿や若さの魅力が職場でも作品にも使い難くくなる点。今後はＲＩＫＯシリーズは、花咲シリーズや錬を書くより難しいのでは？と思えますので、柴田先生がどうＲＩＫＯを御していかれるのか、それ故ますます続編が楽しみです。
奈美先生主役の本も書いて下さい〜
