今回は葉桜が母の面影と名前を持つ少女に封印されていた過去を揺り動かされて
いつもの状態では無く、仮面を外した状態で騒ぎが起こるので学と立ち位置が正反対で物語が展開されます。
後半、葉桜を思う白夜の行動が事件を引き起こすのですが、学と白夜の遣り取りを読み返すと切なくなります。
今回は前二作と違って、暗躍する勢力の動きが少ないように見えましたがとんでもない間違いだった。
最後の最後に今まで蠢いていた闇が表舞台に現れました。
こんな所で終わられると次の巻が気になります。早く出してくれｏｒｚ

　学級委員長からの強引な誘いにより、葉桜と共に校外学習に参加することになった南方学。訪れた<十字架>付近の島で学が見つけた少女、白夜を見た葉桜は異常な反応を示し彼女を保護しようとする。
　南方恵吾の外遊中におきる事件、日本政府とアポストリの間に結ばれたかりそめの平和を壊しかねないもの。二人の活躍により事件は収束するものの、新たな事件への火種は既に熾された。破滅的な戦いが起きる日は近いのか…

　読んでいる間、アポストリ側の政治力があまりにも弱すぎることに違和感を感じていた。その点については作中でも終盤に触れられていたので意図的なものと分かったのだが、あれほど戦争に長けた種族に外交力が無いと言うことは、人類史的な視点で見ると考えがたい。戦争が上手い国は周りの国とよく小競り合いをするし、よく小競り合いをする国はよく他国と交渉をする国でもあるからだ。
　1巻、2巻でも何か違和感を感じ続けているので、すんなりと面白いと言い切ることが出来ないのです。

この作品の2巻までは個人的に高評価でしたが、この巻ではだいぶ評価を下げてしまった。続刊もあるみたいですがそちらも不安です。あまり期待できないかも、もう謎らしい謎も、戦わなきゃいけない敵もいなくなっちゃったので、新設定で展開するのはどうかと思う。
この巻では、葉桜のトラウマの一つである母親がキーパーソンとなり、それに肖った兵器であるラパーチェが敵。そして、明らかに害意のあるラパーチェに対して、攻撃はおろか敵対をするのでさえ渋りに渋る。それが、人死にがでてからすらもというから意味不明です。あれよあれよという間にこちら側は被害甚大で、トラウマだということを考慮しても、読者としてはなんで渋るのかさっぱり分からない。次巻からはどんな顔して出てくるのか、犠牲者に対して良心の呵責で相当に凹んでいなければ、厚顔の極みとしかいいようがない、なんなんだコイツは。だいたい、人を模して作られた兵器に対して憐憫を感じる白夜も重罪で、この母娘には苛立ちばかりが募る展開でした。はっきり言って最悪です。
