5.0 out of 5 stars リアルな「戦争の狂気」, 2006/7/27
個人的にとても楽しみにしていた、「ルウム編・前」です。
「黒い３連星」と「赤い彗星」の名を一躍有名にした戦争として、もう何十年も前から語られていた「ルウム戦役」。今まで間接的にしか語られていなかったあの戦争を、とうとう目撃することができる、と期待に胸を膨らませて本を開きました。

しかし、そこに描かれていたのは、英雄達の活躍などという華々しく格好の良いものではなく、「戦争の狂気」でした。

戦争の火蓋を切り、国民を戦争へと駆り立てるギレン、皮肉な目でそれを見るキシリア、良心の呵責に耐え切れず都合の良い理屈で自己欺瞞を図るドズル、戦争の華々しさにばかり心を奪われるガルマは、みなことごとく狂気に身を任せています。

辛うじて正常な判断力を残しているように見えるデギンも、一旦狂気に駆られて動き出した国家の動きを止めることができません。

狂気が正常となる世界では、人間性は蹂躙され、無数の無辜の民は、どんなに夢を持っていようと、全て無価値なものと断じられて殺されていきます。

いかなる大義名分を掲げようと、戦争は非情な殺戮以外の何物でもない。この第１３巻は、読み終わった後にそんな思いを強くさせます。

「ルウム編」を全て読み終わった後に改めて第１巻を読めば、きっとこの戦争の全体像がより鮮明に見え、そこに巻き込まれたアムロたちの恐怖がよりリアルに感じられてくることでしょう。

「悪名高い」サイド２での毒ガス使用および「コロニー落とし」を巡るドズルとラルの対立とドズルの苦悩。その苦悩を「ミネバを護るためだ！」という大義にすり替え、相手を殺してしまった事を「連中に『自分たちのミネバ（子供達）』を護る力が無かったから」、と転嫁。ドズルはやはり、ザビ家において唯一「善良なる凡人」なのだなぁと、ソロモンでの彼の最期にまで思いを馳せ、何故か感傷的な気分です。

何よりも、遂にあのコスチュームの「赤い彗星」が登場！！
「黒い三連星」を挑発する様にシビレますね。後の良き相棒ドレンとのやりとりにも、思わずニヤリとさせられます。

そんな中で「赤い彗星」がキャスバルではないかと察するセイラ。彼女が巻き込まれる騒動など、今巻はこれまでになく、とてもテンポ良く様々なドラマが描かれ満足度高いです。

そして、いよいよ「ルウム戦役」の火蓋が切って落とされようとしています！！！

この13巻は他の巻とは少し違う気がします。
いつもは話の展開が気になる漫画でしたが、この巻で着目したのは、
物語の進展よりも、ラルやドズルなどの人物の心情でした。
個人の気持ちや性格、考えがよく書かれていたと思います。

全体評価としては、
この漫画にはアニメとは多少違うストーリーや、
アニメでは語られていなかったストーリーも描かれているため、
ファーストガンダムが好きな人、
知らない人、
アニメでは話があまりわからなかった人など、
色々な人が楽しめる漫画だと思います。
