ガンダムといえば、アムロの成長が中心で描かれていましたが、コミックにするに当たって、シャアの経緯も盛り込んでいく事になったんだな〜と、感じました。
シャアの根深い恨みが、どう復習劇に展開されていくのかがよく分かります。
ガルマやザビ家の結末を知っているけれど、経緯が分かるので、ガンダムの世界がより深くわかり、とても楽しいです。
それに併せて、モビルスーツの歴史も感じられます。
テレビ版ガンダムのストーリーからは外れていますが、おもしろい展開だと思います。

第11巻はシャアの士官学校生活とジオンのモビルスーツ開発秘史を収録。
圧倒的な国力と戦力差のある連邦にジオンはなぜ戦いを挑んだのか？
正攻法で考えれば勝てるはずはない。
ギレンの言を借りれば実に彼我の国力・戦力差は30倍の開きがあるのだ。
だが彼らは開戦に踏み切った。
なぜか？
理由は2点ある。
量では劣るが質では負けない高性能兵器の開発に成功したことと、緒戦で大ダメージを与えて早期講和に持ち込む目論見が立ったことである。
今巻では主に前者について描かれている。
メインはシャアとガルマの士官学校生活であり、これはホワイトベースのアメリカ西海岸での戦いにつながっていくのだが、彼らの生活に影を及ぼす情勢にも注目すると良いだろう。

シャアの位置取りにも注目して欲しい。
結果的に連邦とジオンが袂を分かつ動きを加速させるべく暗躍したのは彼である。
なぜ彼はあのような行動に出たのか？
成功したとしてもスケープゴートにされることは理解していたはずだ。
漫画の設定なのであまり突き詰めても仕方がないことかもしれないが、彼の本願を果たすには歴史の歯車を動かす必要があったのであろう。
自らの能力に絶対の自信を持つ彼ならばこそ、新兵器の存在とそれを統べる将官に名前を売ることで将来の復帰をも視野に入れていたのかもしれない。
だとすれば、恐るべきはシャア・アズナブルである（これもまたニュータイプなのかも？）。

アニメであいまいだった部分が
まるで最初からそういう設定があったかのような話の運び。
シャア・セイラ編から続けて読み直すとまた感動もひとしお。
これは文句なしに面白い！
とはいえ、このペースだと10年くらいかかりそうな気もします。
安彦氏には無事にラストまで描きあげて欲しいです。
行く所まで行って頂きたいですから、
どうか健康でいてください。
