~ガンダムファン周知の「歴史的事実（？）」でありながら、具体的には語られる事のなかったザビ家によるジオン・ダイクン暗殺から幼いシャアとセイラの脱出劇の真実が、遂に明らかになります。

ジオンの遺児を巡る「鉄の女傑」キシリアと（ちょっと「オヤジ」な）ランバ・ラル、ハモンの対決は、ただの「マニアの為の外伝」ではない、一編の映画としても十~~分「完成」したスリリングな展開を魅せてくれます。
これまで、うっかり（？）「The ORIGIN」には手を付けていないというGファンの方がいるとすれば、この９巻（そして「後編」の１０巻）だけでも是非一読をお勧めします。

しかし、なるほどこの経緯ならば、後にホワイトベースで思いもかけず再会をした時に、ラルはセイラを撃つ事等出来る訳は無いなと納得。~

ふーっ・・・。思わず溜息が・・・。こんな展開もありなんですね。若き日の「青き巨星」と麗しの「ハモン嬢」の活躍に胸が躍りました。兄弟すら爆殺する冷酷な若き「キシリア閣下」の柔肌がこれほどまでに美しいとは。オデッサ作戦、黒い三連星のその後など、「気になる点」も気にならないほどのスピード感が読む者を圧倒する。大人のガンダムがようやく始動した、と実感できる傑作。今まで迷いながらも買い続けてきた苦労が報われました。この巻のおかげで全巻揃える決意が固まりました。

ジャブローでのシャアとの邂逅から、セイラの回想という形で、
ジオン公国誕生前後を描いたオリジナル（初ビジュアル化）のシャア・セイラ編に突入します。

これまで名前だけは出ていたジンバ・ラルやサスロ・ザビが初めて描かれるあたり、
ディープなガンダムファンには感動もの。
特にサスロ・ザビの自動車爆発事故（殺人）のシーンは、分かっていてもゾクゾクっと来ました。

サイド３にいる連邦軍とダイクン家、ザビ家、ラル家の関係などが少々ややこしいので、
ガンダムの裏設定を知らない人が読む時にはじっくり解読する必要があるのが難点ですが。

若きランバ・ラルとハモンの活躍などは一年戦争での鬱憤を晴らすかのような痛快さ。
タチやクランプの登場も楽しいです。

最後に出てくる貨物船のデザインは大河原邦男かどうか分かりませんが、
けっこう好きなデザインでした。
