「能力者」と聞くだけで「バトル物」の作品というイメージを持っている人が多いと思います。
本作にも一応バトルのようなシーンはありますが、作品全般としてはほとんどバトルはありません。ちょっと変わったタイプの能力者物の小説ですね。
ミステリー要素が多く、序盤から伏線がいくつもありますが、この１巻で全ての伏線を回収し、完結しているので、しっかりまとまっていて完成度が高いと思います。
また、本作に登場するキャラ達は暴力的な言葉をほとんど使わないため、読後感もすっきりさわやかで良い作品です。

『能力者が集う町』『リセット』『管理局』『Aランク』

こうやってキーワードだけ並べてみると「はいはい今時の中二病セカイ系ノベルですね」って感じ。
だけどこの作品はとても繊細な「優しさ」や「いたわり」で満たされている。
基本的な意味での「真面目さ」と言っても良いかもしれない。
「世界中の人が幸せになりますように」と密かに祈るような。


「セカイ系」は平凡な日常をそのまま世界の命運に接続してしまう。
そのダイナミックさが「セカイ系」の大きな魅力だけれど、本作の主人公である浅井ケイはその平凡な日常の方をとても愛して、大切にしようとする。

そして平凡な日常を幸せに生きていくために必要なのは、「超能力」や「超科学」ではなく「優しさ」や「いたわり」だ。



この新人作家のデビュー作となった「セカイ系」小説は、日常を舞台にしつつも実は日常をないがしろにしつづける「セカイ系」ムーブメントへの、静かなカウンターなのかも知れない。

１冊で完結している内容で、軽快なテンポで読み進めることが出来ました。
あの時に戻ってもう一度やり直せれば、というリアルでは叶わぬ夢を実現できる能力と、それに伴う痛みやジレンマを上手く組み込んでいると思います。
もしかすると続編も作るかもしれないということで期待したいと思います。
