「くの一」＝女忍者が、忍び込んだ先で男に惚れちゃってというあたりは、作家の想像力のしからしむるところだからイチャモンを付けないとして、しかし「お庭番」＝「忍者」という設定はいただけないな。
八代将軍徳川吉宗が紀州から連れてきた「お庭番」って、もとは鉄砲足軽。
誰が「お庭番」を「忍者」と取り違えてしまったのかしらね。
やっぱり『暴れん坊将軍』の亜流？
もう、この文化・文政時代ともなると、みな歴々の旗本身分で、徳川家職員録ともいうべき「武鑑」にも、ちゃんと姓名・職名がオープンに掲載されている。公方様直々の「隠密」役には違いないけれど、手裏剣を飛ばしたりするドロンドロンの忍術使いなんかと、まるで「お庭番」は別もん。
そんなことは明治時代に出版された『旧事諮問録』にも書いてある。何を思い違いしたのか、どうも、その辺が安易すぎて白けてしまった。まぁ、もう少し先まで読んでみないと、なんとも言えないが、あまり期待できそうもないというのが率直な感想。風野真知雄氏らしくプロットの縦糸、横糸の織り出しなんか、いかにも上手いのにね。惜しいよなぁ。

題名に惹かれて購入、５巻まで一気読みしました。風野真知雄さんですか・・・ペンネームなら｢ルビーの指輪｣から？　それはともかく、おもしろいのだけど、気になる個所もいくつかある。
１）織江の心術→たぬき囃子→うまい飯→下屋敷潜入・・・の流れがいまいちわからない。
２）第１巻：第四話：｢妻恋坂｣で、阿弥陀様とお釈迦様がごっちゃになってる。
３）第２巻：第一話：｢墓場から来た女｣で、p.32｢こっちからだと、さっき言っていた離れがよく見える｣・・・エッ、｢さっき言っていた？｣、どこや・・・？

　揚げ足をとってるのではありません。多分、作者は、ボク（自営業）と同じく、アルコールをたしなみながら仕事されるのかと親しみを感じます。毎月25日ということで、6巻を心待ちにしてるのですが、仲々出版されません・・・5巻で雅江を死なせてしまったので、あとが書きにくくなった・・・などと想像してます。この際、雅江を幽霊として登場させても面白いかも・・・続刊を期待してます。

山手樹一郎タッチのほのぼの、のんびりした作風が特徴です。

主人公は、出世もせず、周囲からも馬鹿にされ、世俗離れした冴えない侍で、
そこにくの一が嫁入り（実は潜入）して、とおうお話だが、
ばかばかしく思えるようなストーリーがかなり読ませます。

ひとえに軽いくて楽天的な作風のなせる技でしょう。
はっきり言って、本作、ストーリーの導入部分で、本格的な物語はスタートしていません。
次を読みたいと思わせるところは、
主人公の造形が魅力的だからだと思います。
気軽に楽しめます。
